Jackson’s Orchard and Nursery – Bowling Green, KY

About 5 miles or so north of downtown Bowling Green, Kentucky is a unique little fruit tree farm that’s been around long enough to become a local institution. The property is over 100 acres and they claim to have over 7,000 trees, comprised of apple, peach and cherries.

To say you’ll find a lot of fresh fruit there is an understatement. It’s not just that they have a lot of apples – they have a lot of different KINDS of apples. When we went they didn’t have any peaches or cherries. I suppose that’s the seasonal nature of a fruit tree farm.

Fresh farm apples displayed in white paper bags at a rustic farmers market stand, offering a variety of sweet and crisp apples for sale.

They also have a little cafe where you can purchase various snacks, though in our experience we’d recommend sticking to the fresh Apple Cider (especially the frosty one!), and maybe some fresh baked pies.

Freshly made breakfast and lunch options at The Apple Kitchen, a cozy local restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere, outdoor flowers, and a vibrant sign, perfect for a quick, delicious meal.

In addition to the food, they’ve also got a LOT of space for entertaining visitors. From a massive playground for the kids, to covered areas that groups could congregate. They are accustomed to local school buses bringing tons of kids, and probably tour busses stopping by.

Anyway, if you’re nearby, it’s well worth a visit! One last little thing to know is that the windy road up to the farm is pretty steep, and I wouldn’t recommend trying to take a large RV up that hill… but we had no problem in our Sprinter van, so just be aware.
