National Ornamental Metal Museum – Memphis, TN

Of course, we had to take a detour to see the Metal Museum! John’s been a fan of all things metal since …. forever.

National Ornamental Metal Museum Entrance Gate

The National Ornamental Metal Museum has a few small historical collections as well as displays of local artists and metalsmiths. Both ornamental as well as abstract. Its grounds also include blacksmith shop, foundry, metals lab, and design lab where demonstrations are held every Saturday and Sunday.

There’s even a house for students learning the craft and their teacher(s).

National Ornamental Metal Museum Artists Residence

The museum sculpture garden has over 20 pieces of metalwork. You might even see a commissioned Museum art piece that has not been delivered yet!

A sculpture recently completed which is due for prominent placement in front of a major sporting arena.

There was one particularly impressive piece of cast art from the 38th Master Metalsmith, Preston Jackson, entitled Tales of the River Cities.
